Tenant-Based Rental Assistance Program (TBRA)

Another Chance of Atlanta, Inc. is committed to preventing homelessness and helping families maintain stable housing across metro Atlanta. Our Tenant-Based Rental Assistance (TBRA) Program is designed to support individuals and families living in Gwinnett County, Georgia who are experiencing financial hardship and are at risk of losing their housing.

This program offers security deposit and short-term rental assistance to help stabilize households experiencing difficulty keeping up with rent payments. We understand that unexpected financial challenges can happen, and our goal is to provide support that helps residents remain safely housed while they work toward long-term stability.

The TBRA program is available to Gwinnett County residents who are moving into a new home and need assistance with a security deposit, or who are currently at least one month behind on rent and at risk of homelessness. However, funding for this program is limited, and assistance is provided only when funds are available. Submitting your information through our website is considered a request for rental assistance, not a formal application, and does not guarantee that assistance will be provided.

We require households to contribute at least 30% of their adjusted monthly income toward their rent. If a household is approved for TBRA assistance, the program may help cover the remaining eligible portion of the rent.

For example, if a household earns $2,000 per month, they would be required to contribute at least $600 toward their rent. If their monthly rent is $1,200, the TBRA program may be able to assist with approximately $600, depending on eligibility and funding availability.

At this time, our agency may be able to assist with security deposits for households moving into a new unit or with the past-due balance of the current month’s rent. Assistance amounts may vary based on household income, rent amount, eligibility requirements, and the availability of funds. In some cases, households who have previously received assistance may be eligible to receive help again within a 12-month period, depending on program funding.

Another Chance of Atlanta carefully reviews all requests to ensure they meet program guidelines. Because funding is limited, not all requests will be approved.

If you are a Gwinnett County resident who is moving into a new home and need security deposit assistance or behind on the current month’s rent and are at risk of losing your housing, you may submit a financial assistance request by completing the form below. If your request meets the initial requirements and funding is available, a member of our team may contact you with the next steps.
