Recovery was truly alive on Atlanta’s Westside!
Another Chance of Atlanta, Inc. and Making A Way Housing, Inc. would like to extend a heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who helped make our “Recovery Is Alive on the Westside” National Recovery Month Celebration a tremendous success!
Held on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at KIPP Atlanta Collegiate, the event brought together community members, individuals in recovery, families, service providers, advocates, and community partners for a day centered around recovery, hope, resources, connection, and celebration.
Bringing the Community Together
Throughout the day, attendees had an opportunity to connect with organizations providing valuable information and resources related to recovery, housing, mental and physical health, substance use services, harm reduction, food assistance, and other supportive services.
Our Resource & Recovery Hub created a welcoming space where community members could meet directly with organizations doing important work throughout Atlanta and surrounding communities.
The event also featured our “Let’s Talk Recovery” Community Stakeholder Forum, which brought together voices of hope, individuals with lived experience, recovery professionals, service providers, and community leaders for an important conversation about recovery on Atlanta’s Westside.
The discussion focused not only on how far the recovery community has come, but also on what we can continue doing together to strengthen recovery opportunities, reduce stigma, connect people with services, and ensure that individuals and families know they are not alone.
Recovery, Basketball, Music & Community
Of course, we couldn’t celebrate without having some fun!
Our Old Skool vs. New Skool: Recovery Hoops brought energy, laughter, friendly competition, and community spirit to the gym. Music throughout the celebration helped keep the atmosphere going as attendees connected, enjoyed food, learned about resources, and celebrated recovery together.
The event reminded us that recovery is about more than overcoming challenges. It is also about rebuilding connections, creating community, finding hope, and celebrating progress.

Recovery Is Alive on the Westside!
National Recovery Month gives us an opportunity to celebrate recovery, recognize the people who make recovery possible, and remind our communities that recovery is real and hope is available.
The success of this event showed what can happen when organizations, individuals, and community leaders come together around a shared purpose.
Although the celebration has ended, the work continues.
Another Chance of Atlanta, Inc. and Making A Way Housing, Inc. remain committed to strengthening partnerships, connecting people with resources, supporting individuals and families, and creating opportunities for recovery and stability throughout our communities.
